L'Arno non gonfia d'acqua chiara : Ilaria Di Biagio

“L’Arno non gonfia d’acqua chiara” è un modo di dire toscano che si riferisce ai
moti alluvionali del fiume di Firenze.

Spinta dalla voglia di approfondire i drammatici eventi storici che funestarono la
città il 4 Novembre 1966 e capirne meglio l’entità e la gravità, ho deciso di
approntare una ricerca di tipo fotografico facendo ricorso all’utilizzo di immagini
d’epoca.
Realizzando quindi fotografie ex novo delle stesse immagini al giorno d’oggi, e
giustapponendovi quelle d’epoca, l’intento è quello di creare un raffronto, a
cinquant’anni dalla disastrosa alluvione, evidenziandone così danni ed accaduto.

"The Arno does not swell clear water" is a Tuscan proverb that refers to the alluvial movements of the river in Florence.

Driven by the desire to deepen the dramatic historical events that afflicted Florence on November 4, 1966, and to better understand the magnitude and seriousness of the flood that hit the city, I decided to create a collage resorting the use of archive pictures.

Juxtaposing the old and the new photos, the intent is to create a comparison, after fifty years from the disastrous flood, thus emphasizing what happened; to retrieve the size of an event as well important for the city of Florence.
